Triathletes takes off their wetsuits after completing the 1.2 mile swim during the 19th Subaru IRONMAN 70.3 on Elk Lake in Victoria B.C. Canada on Sunday June 14, 2015.
It is common for triathletes to feel dizzy or unbalanced, upon exiting the water following the swim.
Swimming requires the athletes to be in a horizontal position, with the heart pumping blood primarily to the upper body. Standing up quickly and trying to run the heart is required to pump blood to the legs resulting in the blood supply to the head to drop causing the light headed feeling.
